This is probably the most unique shot I've seen in a long time. I never new my D90 could do double exposures!!! I wonder if the D800 can do it as well...?
So how exactly did you paint the ufo? That's the only part I'm a bit confused on... You mention something about a "UFO Tool" in earlier comments.

Anyhow, awesome work!

Thanks, D90 has double and triple in cam exposures, but this shot was done with the 'lens cap trick' btw. Ive made the UFO with a custom light tool like ive mentioned before, no rocket science there just experiment with long exposure and light painting ;)

Wow that is awesome. That's the first star trail I've seen with a light painting over it.

Thank you ;) inside it was nice and warm, but yes freezing for the camera :D I used this nikon D90 when I was in Finland, it was -27 at midday so REALLY cold if you ask me. But the camera didn't really like that, is got really slow, the battery was empty very fast and the top display was flickering a bit. In the end I was happy it survived the vacation in the beautiful but cold Finland ;)

Thanks again man! cool you like it.

Combining star trails with the ufo tool with a double exposure in this case. I would recommend anyone to have a go with at least in-camera double-exposure shots (see you manual if you have a dslr), you can also have a go with the 'lens cap trick' but thats more tricky.

I found my settings for double and treble exposures on cam yesterday. Need to have a play. Im not sure if can do stuff for moor than 30 secs in this mode and i think the cam processes the photo if i take moor than 30seconds between exposures so ill have to be quick.

I love this pik, need to get some led's and stuff so i can make a ufo tool as im sure i can see how.

As ever, you make me smile with your LP

So you didnt read the manual?!? I really advise you to really read it :D but I see you got a D7000, I got a D90, and with both you can do a double or triple exposure shot longer then 30 sec if you use a remote, like the IR remote you have. But yes between shots you have only 30 sec, at least with a D90. But with some practice its more then enough.

Im looking forward to see some of you ufo creations because you are sure you can see how you say ;) hahaha kidding man!

greets!

Hey man :D, i did read it a long time ago, but id never played with the double exposure side of it - going to have a bit of fun with that i recon. I got a soldering iron today and a couple of kids toys from the second hand shop. Also butchered an led torch + sweet tin to make a light / stencil box. Literally just this min had a play and uploading piks from card to pc.Stencils took ages to colour in my printer wasnt black enough. Gimmi 20 mins and ill put a couple up on here :)

Great to hear man, modifying tools or making custom tools is always fun, can be tricky tho, but can give super results. Let me know if you need any help/tips!

See my comment on using 2 or more prints over each other on one of your new stencil shots ;) I did tell you this before but never mind, learning is a good thing, non the less you got some cool results with only 1 print.
